5 New Tomei Colors

We’ve just added a few more tools for your designer toolbox! Lunada Bay Tile has updated the Tomei glass collection with the addition of five new neutral hues. The latest colors provide more options in the gray and beige color families, each with a unique undertone, which give designers and specifiers more opportunities to work with Tomei in a variety of styles and palettes.

The new colors—Linen, Stratus, Horizon, Pumice and Vapor—bring the Tomei collection to 24 colors in two finishes, natural (glossy) and silk (matte).

TCNA Members Donate Doghouses

We are always looking for new ways to showcase our mosaic tiles and to encourage people to use tile in creative ways. That’s why when the Tile Council of North America (TCNA) asked us to design a doghouse clad in tile, we had to say yes!  Eighteen members of TCNA donated one-of-a-kind tiled doghouses to the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando at Coverings 2017.

Formerly the SPCA of Central Florida, the Pet Alliance’s goal is to provide compassionate and knowledgeable services for pets and to be leaders in innovative animal care and veterinary medicine. More than 8,000 homeless dogs and cats will turn to the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando for caring, compassion, and hope through our animal shelters this year.

To create the doghouses, each company received a form manufactured and donated by Wedi, a manufacturer of waterproof and directly tileable building panels, to use as the house structure. What went on the doghouse was left to our imagination.

Lunada Bay Tile’s pooch-friendly palace was clad in Tomei glass tiles etched with a custom design of tiny paw prints. The roof showcased a combination of Shinju Zen Garden ceramic and Lacquer glass tiles (the Lacquer collection will launch in 2017). The eaves were illuminated with all-weather LEDs, lighting the way for four-legged friends come nightfall.

“Each year at Coverings TCNA’s members selflessly give back to the local community through countless hours of designing and creating timeless works of art such as these doghouses,” said TCNA Executive Director Eric Astrachan. “This year we are pleased to donate these incredible examples of the versatility and beauty of tile to the Pet Alliance to assist them in their mission to help Orlando area pets. We are very happy to contribute with our members to such a worthy cause.”

“Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando is grateful to TCNA for choosing us as their partner on this project,” said Pet Alliance Executive Director, Stephen Bardy. “Each year thousands of cats and dogs are surrendered to Pet Alliance. It is support from community members and businesses that allows us to do the important work of providing care and shelter for these pets while they wait for their new homes. Thank you to TCNA and its members for their commitment to helping pets in need.”

During the show the doghouses (along with some furry friends from Pet Alliance) were on display at the TCNA Art Tile Courtyard where a donation ceremony was held.
